Born on 25 May 1994, Aly
Raisman started gymnastics at an early age. She quickly became a strong
competitor, winning the gold in the vault event at the 2009 American Classic
and in the all-around category at the 2011 Cover-Girl Classic. Raisman also
helped the U.S. gymnastics team win the 2011 World Championships
Alexandra Raisman had talk with USA Gymnastics recently about
training for the Rio Olympics. her solid gymnastics cannot be ignored, either.
Raisman’s strongest event is undoubtedly floor, where she won the gold medal in
London with a staggering 15.600 score. USA has two very strong floor workers
who are currently competing – Simone Biles (who won gold in Nanning)
After a long break, she has worked with her coaches Mihai
and Sylvie Brestyan for her comeback. The Brestyans are no strangers to
comebacks having coached Alicia Sacramone to a successful comeback after a year
off where she became a world champion on vault.
In late July 2012, Raisman she
was captain of the gold medal-winning US women's gymnastics team., and
individually won a gold medal on the floor and a bronze medal on the balance
beam and her U.S. Olympic women's gymnastics
teammates—Gabrielle Douglas, Kyla Ross, McKayla Maroney and Jordyn Wieber—took
home a team gold medal. Fans worldwide watched as judges announced the team's
medal win—the first gold medal for the American women's gymnastics team since
1996. Raisman went on to win a bronze medal for the beam and a second gold
medal, in the individual floor exercise, at the 2012 Olympics.
We’re looking forward to seeing her back in competition
next year. Let us know what you think about Raisman’s return to the USA
Gymnastics.
