The 6th ASEAN School Games (ASG) in Manila, Philippines, from 29 November to 7 December 2014.
Over 1,500 student-athletes from seven ASEAN nations, namely Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam will be sending student-athletes to compete in a total of 11 sports, which will be held at various locations within Marikina City, Manila. These sports are Badminton, Basketball, Golf, Gymnastics, Sepak Takraw, Swimming, Table Tennis, Tennis, Track and Field, Volleyball and Wushu.
The ASSC aims to promote ASEAN solidarity in youth while providing opportunities for school-athletes to benchmark their sporting talents with their ASEAN peers.
The student-athletes from the Malaysia were selected from the National Back-up program well as other local competitions. To participate in the ASG, athletes must be 18 years of age or younger on 1st January of the year of the Games and be full-time students in the participating ASEAN countries
Gymnast to watch - Ava Verdaflor is a fairly good find by the Gymnastic Association of the Philippines (GAP) she placed 11th at the World Olympic Youth Championships. Born January 2, 1999 in Tarlac but moving to the United States.She will just be 16 when the 2015 SEA Games rolls around in Singapore next July.
