Jack Penny and Damien Axelsen overcome injury

Trampolinists Jack Penny and Damien Axelsen overcome injury in time for World Trampoline and Tumbling Championships.
Jack Penny and Damien Axelsen have been forced to overcome ankle and foot problems to take their places in the national team for the championships at Daytona Beach, Florida, starting next Monday.
Axelsen damaged some ankle ligaments about three months ago while Penny, who missed last year’s event through injury, fractured his left foot in a pre-competition training camp on the World Cup circuit in Portugal and Belarus.
Penny has only recently received medical clearance from Gymnastics Australia and the TIS medical team to compete in Daytona.
The duo leave for the US on Wednesday for an acclimatisation camp, with Axelsen hoping to contain the nerves on his debut performance in the men’s double-mini event.
“The 2015 World Championships is the qualification for the Olympics, so this edition is just the Australian team getting a foot in and seeing the field and where we are and what we need to do.”
