Sweden stood up as winner of the 2014 European TeamGym Championships’ women’s final after a first-class performance in Reykjavík’s Laugardalshöll arena today. As Sweden narrowly beat Iceland in the qualifications, it was clear that the two teams would fight for the gold.
Both teams put on a great show with Sweden claiming the higher score for tumbling and trampet and Iceland scoring higher on the floor. With a final score of 60.150 against 59.466, Sweden proved the stronger team, beating the two-time European champion.
Denmark came third in the women’s final with a final score of 53.566 but have claimed the most gold medals throughout the competition.
