Kōhei Uchimura - born January 3, 1989 in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka.
Uchimura's name is synonymous
with Japanese men's gymnastics. A five-time Olympic medalist
(all-around, team and floor exercise), winning a gold and four silvers, a
nine-time World medalist (all-around, team, floor, high bar, and parallel bars)
and is considered by many to be the greatest gymnast of all time. He is famous for becoming the first
gymnast (male or female) to win every major all-around title in a single
Olympic cycle, including three consecutive world all around titles in 2009,
2010 and 2011) an and the
2012 Olympic All-Around Champion. He will probably need to build a trophy room
in his home just to house all of his awards.
Kohei's
name will also be forever ingrained in the pages of the Guinness book of World
Records for having three consecutive world championship titles.
