Canada bid to host the 2017 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Montreal.
Three representatives from the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) will be in Montreal February 10-13 to carry out a site visit for the final approval.
Montreal plans to stage the event at the Olympic Stadium in conjunction with other festivities to honor the city’s 375th and Canada’s 150th anniversaries respectively.
Canada is thrilled to bring back the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships to Canada, said Gymnastics Canada Chairman Richard Crépin. It’s a great opportunity to showcase Canada and Montreal’s ability to stage one of the world’s major sports event.
The championships will involve more than 500 athletes from 80 countries around the world.
Good Luck to Gymnastics Canada.
