This year, Israel’s top gymnast, Alex Shatilov is
back to defend his floor title and and with a high bar final under his belt
from Moscow will hope for the High Bar final as well, Apart from Shatilov in
the men’s senior competition, Israel will be represented by Andrey Medvedev and
Tom Arnon.
Medvedev is a vault specialist, a recent silver medalist
from the Ljubljana World Cup meet, with two explosive vaults – a tucked double
front, and a Tsuk double back piked.
Netzer woman gymnast from Israel is recovering from a torn ACL, and will stay
home, hoping to be back and ready for worlds later this year. Without
Netzer, and with the recent retirement of Shaked Malec, Israel is sending only
one senior woman – Gaya Giladi. Giladi is an all-rounder. She has strong legs,
a lot of spunk and an affinity for the floor exercise. She will use the meet to
gain experience, as she is expected to vie for an Israeli ticket to the 2016
Olympic Games in Rio.
