Gymnastics Brazil - Best Athlete of the year.

Arthur Zanetti was voted the best athlete of the year and Flávia  Saraiva the athlete of the crowd

The recent achievements of both is because the sport tic Artistic of Gymnastics becoming more and more in the heart of the crowd. They were honored by the Brazilian Olympic Committee. The event took place at the Municipal theater of Rio de Janeiro, in Rio at the evening gala on Tuesday 16 December.

Zanetti , Olympic champion and world in the rings, He won silver in the world cup in China. 

Flávia Saraiva was elected by popular votes.

In addition to Zanetti and Flávia, the brazilian gymnastics had other representatives on the prize olympic brazil. Angelica Kvieczynski was chosen as the best in the Rhythm Gymnastics, Camilla Gomes the Vault and zanetti was still the Winner in the sport.

Sergei Starkin to coach Aliya Mustafina

 Russian newspaper rsport.ru informs us that the Russian Ministry of Sport has announced the nominee for the sports national awards for the 2012-2013 season. 

Gymnastics is represented by Aliya Mustafina who is nominee as the best female athlete along with the athlete Yelena Isinbayeva, the skater Tatiana Volosozhar, snowboarder Ekaterina Tudegesheva and swimmer Yuliya Efimova. The winners were chosen on December the 16^th

Aliya Mustafina is now having treatment in Munich. We came to understand that Aliya now has a personal coach, not just a personal coach but one of Russia’s best coaches, Sergei Starkin.

Sergei is well known as he coached World Champion Denis Ablyazin and many other Men Artistic Gymnasts on the National Team.

Sometime we would wonder   'can a men's coach train a female gymnast?' In 2001 he coached Olga Ugarnova, who won gold with the Russian team in 2001 Universiad.

Alexandrov great coach to many champions including Aliya. He coached the1983 and 1987 World Champion, Dimitri Bilozerchev.

Well good luck to Aliya and Sergei as they continue work together.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LARISSA

Nine time Olympic champion  gymnast and the most decorated Olympic Champion of all time, Larissa Latynina will be 80 years old on the 27th December.

Tournament organizers: Gymnastic Club "Dynamo-Moscow" named Mikhail Voronin, the Moscow city organization VFSO "Dinamo" with the support of Russian Gymnastics Federation and the Department of Physical Education and Sport in Moscow from 15 – 17 December 2014.

The best gymnasts of the world will compete for the  “ Voronin Cup “ 

The competition will be attended by 130 athletes from 22 countries, including: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Israel, Italy, Iceland, Kazakhstan, Cyprus, Costa Rica, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Russia, Syria, Serbia, Turkmenistan , Uzbekistan, Finland, France, Croatia and Japan. For the first time in this tournament were gymnasts from Costa Rica and Croatia. Among the competitors are many famous athletes, including Russian gymnasts: Honored Master of Sports, world champion, silver medalist of the Olympic Games Ksenia Afanasyeva; Honored Master of Sports, world champion, silver and bronze medalist Denis Ablyazin; Honored Master of Sports, world champion, two-time silver medalist of the Olympic Games Victoria Komova; Honored Master of Sports, silver and bronze medalist of the Olympic Games Maria Apiary; International Master of Sports, World Championship bronze medalist Ekaterina Kramarenko.

The tournament is highly appreciated by the International Gymnastics Federation, is very popular among Russian and foreign masters, the sports community and the audience helps to strengthen the credibility of Moscow as a center of international sport. In the years of the tournament became the strongest gymnasts, Olympic champions and prize-winners of the World Championships and Europe: Alexei Nemov, Svetlana Khorkina, Elena Zamolodchikova, Anastasia Liukin (USA), Ksenia Semenova, Dmitry Karbonenko (France), Sergei Kharkov (Germany) Alexander Vorobyov (Ukraine), Yukio Tanaka (Japan), Alexei Bondarenko, Anna Pavlova, Aliya Mustafina and many others.

Greatest Moments in Olympic Gymnastics History 1984

Li Ning is one of the most outstanding athletes in the 20th century.

He was part of the first Chinese team to participate in the  Los Angeles Olympics 1984, and he had a very successful competition, earning six medals in all: three gold (floor, pommel horse, and rings), two silver (team and vault), and one bronze (all-around). The team came in as world champions, but were upstaged by the Americans, who won a gold medal .
As a gymnast, Li Ning was well known (a Daredevil with Style ) for the

 
amplitude and high difficulty he showed in all of his routines.

Li founded Li Ning Company Limited in 1990, and still serves as its executive chairman and head of business development, corporate strategies and planning. The company is one of the most prominent sports apparel companies in China, and is on par with the success of Adidas and Nike brands in the United States

He  married to former gymnast Chen Yongyan who was team captain of the bronze medalist Chinese women's team at the 1984 Olympics. The couple trained together as children at their provincial club in Guangxi. Li and Chen have a son, Li Xiao Ning.

Li served as a member of the FIG men's technical committee from 1993 to 2000 and  was included into the International Gymnastics Hall of  Fame.
Li Ning lit the torch at the opening ceremonies of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

Greatest Moments in Olympic Gymnastics History 1984.

1984: US Men's Team Win Gold

Though the Soviet Union was not there to compete for the team gold in Los Angeles, the current world champion – China – was. And there to challenge China, and Japan was a much-improved US team..The Americans cleaned up, winning 16 medals, including a team gold for the men and that silver for the women

The US squad shocked everyone by taking the lead after the compulsory round of competition. With stars such as Bart Conner, Peter Vidmar, Mitch Gaylord, and Tim Daggett, the US men had the meet of their lives in optionals to win gold. They capped off their day with near-perfect high bar routines, including clutch performances from Tim Daggett (10.0) and Peter Vidmar (9.95).

The American gymnasts and coaches saw that they could compete with the best in the world, and they didn't need to turn themselves into Russian clones to do it.
