Jack Penny and Damien Axelsen overcome injury

Trampolinists Jack Penny and Damien Axelsen overcome injury in time for World Trampoline and Tumbling Championships.
Jack Penny and Damien Axelsen have been forced to overcome ankle and foot problems to take their places in the national team for the championships at Daytona Beach, Florida, starting next Monday.
Axelsen damaged some ankle ligaments about three months ago while Penny, who missed last year’s event through injury, fractured his left foot in a pre-competition training camp on the World Cup circuit in Portugal and Belarus.
Penny has only recently received medical clearance from Gymnastics Australia and the TIS medical team to compete in Daytona.
The duo leave for the US on Wednesday for an acclimatisation camp, with Axelsen hoping to contain the nerves on his debut performance in the men’s double-mini event.
“The 2015 World Championships is the qualification for the Olympics, so this edition is just the Australian team getting a foot in and seeing the field and where we are and what we need to do.”

Vasily Titov President of Russian Gymnastics Federation

Sports Minister Mutko has confirmed the election of Vasily Titov to the position of President of the RGF. Titov is replacing Andrei Kostin. Titov has been Vice President of the FIG for the last four years and, like Kostin, is senior in Russian gymnastics' sponsors VTB Bank.

54-year-old Titov is also chairman of the board of directors of the Moscow football club "Dynamo", and Vice President of Basketball VTB United League.

Remembering Larisa Andreea Iordache after Nanning

The World Gymnastics Championships just ended in Nanning and all I can say is this: “ Larisa  had so much more energy and she is so much more dynamic”.

She is the best balance between difficulty, artistry and joy out there. She posted the greatest total difficulty score of the competition (5.8 vault, 6.3 bars, 6.3 beam and 6.5 floor = 24.9 in total). However, her leaps are beautiful and very high, She always remembers how to smile Just look at the picture below,

She is the single one out there who smiles on the beam. I mean, really, you’re at the worlds, you’re just fighting for the bronze in the team final, your team mate just fell and you smile? How in love with gymnastics do you have to be to do that?

And in the end, when many other gymnasts say they are happy it all came to an end and when most of them think about a vacation, she amazes us by saying that she is very happy the autumn competitions are close. Larisa, you already proved us how much you love gymnastics but really now, no vacation? You really want to be THAT great again, after doing the same in 2013?

Good luck and see you in Rio.

Romanian Gymnast Larisa Andreea Iordache

At the recent world championships in Nanning, Romanian star Larisa Andreea Iordache, won two silver medals. She is looking ahead to next year's world championships in Glasgow and the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.I think she will able to do better in next year’s world and the coming Olympics.
She hopes her mental toughness will help her in her quest for gold in the next two years.
"In order to be the best, you have to be fearless because of course fear creeps in – everybody has them – but you have to love what you do very much in order to overcome those fears," she said.

Iordache began gymnastics at age 5, as many Romanian gymnasts do. She was spotted by coach, Mariana Campeanu-Silisteanu, while playing with her brother.
The 2014 World Championships in Nanning Iordache won silver medals in both the all-around and on floor exercise.
"My favorite gymnast was and still is Nadia Comaneci – the world's best gymnast," Iordache said. "Of course I appreciate and respect the others because they've contributed something to gymnastics, and they make me determined to become like them – and I am now trying to do better than them."

First World Trampoline Championships abit of history.

This year the World Trampoline and Tumbling Championships will be held at Daytona Beach, USA from 7th to 9th November 2014

The first World Trampoline Championships were held on Saturday, March 21, 1964 at the Royal Albert Hallin London, England, presented by the Nissen Trampoline Company and the British Amateur Gymnastics Association.
Thirty-two men and sixteen women from twelve countries competed in a double-elimination tournament facing off man-to-man (or woman-to-woman), winners advancing until there was one last man/woman standing. Each gymnast performed a 10-bounce routine for the judges to decide who advances to the next round.
The winners were Dan Millman and Judy Wills, both from United States. The silver and bronze went to Linda Ball from England, and Marikle van der Boogard from South Africa. For Men Gary Erwin from the US won the silver and third place was by Dave Smith from England.

10TH EUROPEAN TEAMGYM CHAMPIONSHIPS

Amazing floor exercise from Sweden, and Iceland did great on trampet. Championship in Iceland.

Sweden stood up as winner of the 2014 European TeamGym Championships’ women’s final after a first-class performance in Reykjavík’s Laugardalshöll arena today. As Sweden narrowly beat Iceland in the qualifications, it was clear that the two teams would fight for the gold.

Both teams put on a great show with Sweden claiming the higher score for tumbling and trampet and Iceland scoring higher on the floor. With a final score of 60.150 against 59.466, Sweden proved the stronger team, beating the two-time European champion.

Denmark came third in the women’s final with a final score of 53.566 but have claimed the most gold medals throughout the competition.

Congratulations!
